Unlike most art, pottery is meant to be touched. That makes surface texture particularly important -- and, for the potter, an intriguing field of play and opportunity. Fired clay is a three-dimensional time stamp of the maker's presence at a specific moment. Stamping, slip trailing and carving create a unique record of decisions, experiments, whimsy, experience and accident. No two handmade cups will feel precisely the same in your hand or reflect exactly the same gestures of the maker. When you look at and use a well made pot, you should feel some of the energy that was present during its creation. Our focus on surfaces is an attempt to be vigorously present in our work, just as we want our pots to be a vibrant presence in people's lives. We want our pots to enhance your home and the time you share with the people who are important to you.
