My oil paintings are primarily landscapes from European countries where I've traveled since 2001. I travel with a portable easel and paint what intrigues me, using these "studies" as reference for larger, studio pieces when I return.
I typically work in layers using mostly palette knives. I find them to be versatile painting tools that best achieve the textures and effects I find satisfying. I don't seek a perfect or completely accurate rendition of what I paint, I rather prefer to work with shapes and color in mind while allowing myself the freedom to explore the possibilities that unfold during the process.
