The creation of this photographic imagery is done in the studio using tungsten lights, and a 4x5" camera. The secret to my work is the way in which I use the lights. I call this style "finesse lighting," where I utilize the light as a means of accentuating texture, sculpting shape, and saturating color. It isn't in the camera, darkroom, or some sort of magical computer or airbrush, it's all in the lighting. I began learning photography at the age of ten, and worked for years in the commercial field of photography, where I was able to practice my lighting skills and develop this unique style. It is very much like painting and sculpting with light that I orchestrate to bring out textures, enhance colors, and create works with a surreal dimensional quality.
