I seek to create images that inspire respect for the natural landscape and enthusiasm for life. I'm an avid outdoor enthusiast, and take many of these photographs while hiking alone through our national parks, monuments, forests, and other wilderness areas. I consider having the time and freedom to immerse myself in the landscape my greatest creative assets. I don't concentrate on photographing specific subjects, as much as I do the time, space, and energy that surrounds them. I consider the clouds as important as the mountains, the raindrops as important as the leaves. After all, it is the light- the vibrations of energy irradiating from the scene and reinterpreted by the subject in reflection- that my camera records, not the subject. I also use my skill to transform the weathered textures of abandoned buildings, railcars, and industrial fixtures into color abstractions. I enjoy the challenge of trying to see the beauty in the mundane and the passed over, as well as the act of resurrecting a discarded item from the junk heap and letting it live again, telling its story as art.
