Photography

I use the term "surface photography" to best describe my interest in texture, color, and shape. My photographs, many of which are still lifes or landscapes, find unusual topics with unusual surfaces. The images focus on details and compositions found in everyday life-car fenders, coiled ropes, rusty nails and weathered wood provide surfaces worth capturing. I began a serious interest in photography while completing my masters degree in film and video at the University of Michigan. I then studied at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit and have taught both photography and technique. I have been exhibiting my work now for 4 years.
