First the clay is prepared with a rolling pin and burlap fabric. When the clay is ready, designs are drawn into the clay with self-made tools and sculpting equipment. The clay pieces are slow dried until ready for the bisque firing. After this first firing, the clay pieces are meticulously glazed by hand and fired again at 1200 degrees. Some will go further through a special Mother of Pearl firing.
